Rod Wilson
I had no intention of becoming a film producer.
Fresh from college, with a goal to pursue a rock ‘n’ roll music career, I, nonetheless, needed a “day job” to pay for incidentals like rent and food. And so, while plotting to form my ultimate band, I answered a want ad (remember those?) and, unknowingly, strolled into one of the largest ad agencies in the world – Leo Burnett. Even though I showed them my degree in Broadcast Journalism, I still think they hired me because I could type.
The band came to fruition, but, despite my singing voice and bass playing prowess, it met the same fate of 99.9% of struggling bands. Meanwhile, the day job I’d taken on a whim was providing a master course in film production & the business that makes it happen. Working my way up by raising my hand to do the grunt work others didn’t want to be bothered with, I was mentored by giants of the ad production world. I went on to produce everything from humble radio ads to multi-million dollar TV spots, travel the world and work with Academy Award winning actors, directors & DP’s.
I’m on my own now, and always looking to grab ahold of something new. If you have a cool project and are looking for someone to take charge, reach out. (Oh, and if you’re starting up a band? We could talk about that, too.)
